The restaurant, serving home-cooked food prepared by The Waggon & Horses chef, is open every day from 12 to 2 pm for lunches, dinners from 7 to 9 pm and bar snacks; all day on Sundays.
The menu varies daily and is displayed on a blackboard and with suggested bar snacks displayed around the bar. Vegetarian dishes are always available.
The Waggon & Horses bar is open from 11 am to 11 pm daily serving traditional English ales, continental lagers, tea and coffee, and all manner of other drinks.
The Waggon & Horses is a 'Free House' owned by Mike Shiffner and is renowned as a 'Real Ale' pub. This is because the beers are selected as cask conditioned ales from Greene King, local breweries and other parts of the UK. These beers are not your gassy pasteurised homogenised offerings passed off as beer in less discerning establishments. The Waggon & Horses is listed in the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Guide as a CAMRA approved house and is featured once more in the Good Beer Guide 2002 published by the Campaign for Real Ale Limited.
